Landmarks for Families
Through Heron Virtual Academy, our school for students with at-risk indicators, we partner with your program to rewrite stories and give the extra support your students need to realize their dreams of graduating high school.
Landmarks for Families's Story
Landmarks for Families, originally founded in 1790 as the Charleston Orphan House, holds the distinction of being South Carolina’s oldest nonprofit. Over the years, it has grown into the Carolina Youth Development Center, expanding its mission to support not just children, but entire families through education, preservation, residential care, and reunification services.
Recently, Landmarks for Families took an exciting step by launching a microschool designed for students who, for various reasons, aren’t currently attending schools in Charleston County. We are honored that we get to partner with Landmarks for Families and provide students with an opportunity to be a part of our schools.
